Tuesday 31 July 2012 – Arisaig to Mallaig

Some people set such an ambitious schedule for their cruise that they end up motoring for hours whenever the wind is light.  We have not set such a schedule, so we postponed our departure until well after coffee time, when there seemed to be some wind, so we decided to go to wherever we could easily reach when heading North.  After motoring out of Loch Nan Ceall (past lots of kayaks for which this is an ideal place) we found there was hardly any wind.  However it was warm with a little sun.  Hours later we stopped at Mallaig.  This is not a favourite place as it’s rather expensive for what you get, but it is a pleasant small town.

Tomorrow we will buy some smoked fish from the fish place and try to head north again, weather permitting.

Monday 30 July 2012 – Arisaig

We returned to the boat on Sunday evening after a weekend of kayaking with Chris and Anna.  No details or pics of that here as it’s a different story.  We needed a rest after a tiring weekend but did manage to load the rest of our stuff into the boat and do the last of the food shopping.  It seemed a shame to waste such a beautiful day with such mundane activities.

Sunday 1 July 2012 – Arisaig

Moved to the mooring, spent the day cleaning and tidying, went ashore for a walk and to do essential shopping, Also visited the small centre which had an unusually good video introduction to the Small Isles - only problem being it was a bit long and we had now visited the islands.  Tomorrow we come ashore early and take the train to Inverkip to collect the car and then head over to Chris and Anna's in Edinburgh
