Rona was a bit of a disappointment, which we had been warned about. When we came here years ago there was nobody living on the island and all the houses were ruins. The harbour was quiet. Now there are a number of boats in the harbour and the whole place has been poshed up with lots of little notices telling you what to do and not do. There is even a landing fee of £1 per head to help pay for the facilities which you did not want! The population has ballooned to 2, plus some holiday cottages. They have made a track wide enough for a tractor all along the island – why not just a little track wide enough for a quad bike as at the N end of Raasay leading to Fladday harbour?
